Hello, and thanks for your visit. I’ve resisted putting up a website for thirteen years, but now that I’m finally doing it, I understand the appeal. I can say what I want! No editor to please, no reviewers to satisfy–it’s really pretty intoxicating. Not that I pretend to have earth-shaking news or shocking revelations to report. Still, I value this opportunity to set down some random but very personal thoughts about writing; about places (especially Key West); about choices I’ve made and why I made them; and about how lucky I have been to live a writer’s life.
Oh, I also wouldn’t mind selling a few books or finding my next congenial and rewarding collaboration gig. Honestly, though, that feels sort of off to the side for the moment. So now that you’re here, please kick off your shoes, stay awhile, and have a browse. If you find something that prompts a comment or a question, please feel free to get in touch.
P.S.–Some of you may have noticed that, in the photo above, I look exactly like the dog in sunglasses on FLORIDA STRAITS. I promise you this wasn’t planned. But I have always felt that it was somehow inevitable.
